Sullivan Hill commends Shauna Matheny for her volunteer work throughout the San Diego community. Ms. Matheny has been generously donating her time and energy to help our community through various volunteer opportunities over the past year.
Ms. Matheny has volunteered with the San Diego Food Bank at numerous Senior Food Distribution events where she helped pack and distribute hundreds of food boxes supplying thousands of meals to senior citizens. She also helped pack and distribute hundreds of free meals to the students of Stephen C. Foster elementary school. Ms. Matheny has donated blood multiple times at the San Diego Blood Bank and she participated in virtual clean up events by I Love a Clean San Diego, picking up almost 90 pounds of trash around her neighborhood. She is also part of the awareness organization, Unity Runners, and has participated in several “Ride & Run” events for the “Justice for Breonna Taylor” cause. Thank you Ms. Matheny for helping our community!
“I have been volunteering for most of my adult life. I actually started volunteering at a local thrift store as a girl, but I didn’t understand that is what I was doing. There is always something we can find to do to help in some way. Picking up trash, working in the food bank warehouse, donating blood, making hygiene kits for the homeless, etc. Our time is a precious gift and giving some of it away to help others or our environment is such a small thing, but can make such a big difference. During this past year, I have also found myself becoming an activist and giving much of my time to causes to help bring awareness to inequities,” said Ms. Matheny.
Ms. Matheny joined Sullivan Hill in 2004 and is a dedicated legal secretary supporting several attorneys.
