Sullivan Hill’s Elizabeth Stephens was interviewed by the Las Vegas Review Journal for their article titled, ‘Torrent of Bankruptcy Filings’ Expected as Rent Comes Due for Thousands. The article discusses the anticipated flood of bankruptcy filings after the CARES Act expires in December 2020, the increase of Chapter 11 filings, and how the number of personal bankruptcy filings under Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 have surprisingly dropped since March 2020. The article also gives the perspectives of several bankruptcy attorneys in Nevada, including Ms. Stephens, as to why the types of filings have increased or decreased and what they expect come January 2021.

“(It) poured $2.2 trillion into the economy,’ [Ms. Stephens] said, adding she expects to see ‘a torrent of bankruptcy filings’ after CARES Act protections like additional unemployment benefits and other federal provisions such as the federal eviction moratorium expire Dec. 31.”
