Erin M. MurphyAssociate
Erin Murphy is a member of Sullivan Hill’s Commercial and Business Litigation, Insurance Coverage, and Construction Law practice groups. Ms. Murphy is a skilled negotiator and accomplished in a wide range of real estate and personal injury litigation matters. Her practice is now primarily focused in the areas of commercial business and real estate litigation, with an emphasis in construction and insurance coverage.
Ms. Murphy is a native of San Diego and attended the University of San Diego, where she graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science in 2013. She earned her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in December 2016. Ms. Murphy was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2017.
Ms. Murphy grew up figure skating and when not at work, she enjoys hiking, beach days, reading, and spending time with her family.

Prior to joining Sullivan Hill, Ms. Murphy worked for an insurance defense firm, where she defended cases involving personal injury and real estate transaction disputes. She also worked in a family law firm after law school, gaining significant pre-trial experience in complex, financial discovery and motion practice. In law school, she clerked with a workers’ compensation insurance defense firm, where she became the firm’s lien representative and was responsible for settling lien claims of various medical providers, including investigating claimed expenses and potential fraud based on relevant standards.
Ms. Murphy has successfully mediated many complex, multi-party auto accident and real estate cases involving claims for thousands of dollars against her clients in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. She most recently successfully obtained a defense jury verdict in a trial involving an auto accident in San Bernardino Superior Court in August 2019. She also handled a large real estate transaction case in Orange County that involved multi-million-dollar fraud arising from a nefarious escrow company and included a criminal and civil component. She was able to secure a key settlement for her client pre-trial, reducing exposure risk of millions of dollars.
Ms. Murphy is admitted to practice in all California state courts. She is a member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.
