Shailendra (Shay) Kulkarni has been appointed program co-chair and advisory board member of the Crawford Academy of Law. In those roles, Kulkarni will manage the recruitment of attorney mentors and internship supervisors, facilitate the development of work-based learning opportunities for student participants in the program, and seek to foster relationships with industry partners. Kulkarni’s term as co-chair is a two-year term that begins immediately; his term as an advisory board member is a two-year term that begins in September 2017.
The Crawford Academy of Law is a California Partnership Academy, founded in 2011, through a grant from the State of California. It serves students in 10th through 12th grade at Will C. Crawford High School who are identified as “at risk” of dropping out of school. The Academy focuses on educating these students about the law and careers in the legal field, with the goal of preparing them to attend college and, potentially, pursue a legal career.
Kulkarni is a member of Construction and Insurance Law practice group of Sullivan Hill. For the past two terms, he has also served as the Chair of the Construction Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association.
