Summary

With more than 40 years of experience in business and other civil litigation, Jeff Lewin has tried dozens of lawsuits, including antitrust, RICO, Lanham Act, fraud, breach of trust, products liability, breach of contract, employment, negligence, product defamation and punitive damages cases, in state and federal courts throughout the country. He represents a variety of national and international corporations as well as individuals.

Jeff has served as Lawyer Delegate to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference; Member of the Disciplinary Committee, United States District Court, Southern District of California; Chairman of the Federal Court Committee, San Diego County Bar Association; and Faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and the California Continuing Education of the Bar.

  • Obtained $35 million dollar settlement for 49% minority shareholder of private corporation who was squeezed out by 51% majority shareholder
  • Obtained $25 million dollar judgment for German aircraft leasing company against Mexican airline operating company
  • Successfully negotiated elder abuse claim for retired businessman who claimed he was falsely institutionalized by his estranged wife and daughter resulting in recovery of his liberty and his $14 MM estate
  • Obtained $5 million dollar judgment for manufacturer of clutch plates in product defamation/Rico trial in United States District Court after two week trial
  • Successfully defended director of private corporation sued for securities fraud after two month trial
  • Successfully defended manufacturer sued for strict products liability after four month trial
  • Successfully defended manager of LLC against multimillion dollar fraud and brought fiduciary duty claims in AAA arbitration
  • Managed thousands of similar mass tort products liability cases in seven states
  • Reduced settlement value of laser hair removal products liability cases from $300,000 to approximately $1,000
  • Successfully defended at trial or settled numerous wrongful termination cases against employers

Affiliations

Jeff has been a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association since 1976. He is also a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. He currently serves as chair of the California Western School of Law (CWSL) Board of Trustees and also serves on the Steering Committee for the UCSD Economics Roundtable and on the board of the German American San Diego Foundation. He is an alumnus of the Louis B. Welsh Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Since 2013 Jeff has served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of California Western School of Law.
